Operation Ayrshire - Police Success

AUCKLAND

Orewa Police executed three simultaneous search warrants issued under the Misuse of Drugs Act on residential properties in the Rodney area this morning.

Properties in the Waiwera, Waitoki and Whangaparoa area were searched by Police who discovered a sophisticated hydroponics Cannabis growing set up, dried cannabis ready for distribution and an illegal firearm and ammunition.

A 39 year old male from Whangaparoa has been charged with the Cultivation of Cannabis for supply and possession of Cannabis for supply.

A 35 year old female from Waiwera has been charged with Possession of Cannabis for supply and a 45 year old male from Waitoki has been charged with the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

This recent Police activity follows the success of a drugs warrant execution in the Wellsford area where another hydroponics Cannabis growing operation was discovered.

Inspector Keith Brady the relieving Area Commander for Rodney stated that the Police will act upon all credible information coming to the attention of the Police concerning illegal drug activity.

"We are looking at the cultivation and production of illegal drugs Rodney wide,” he said.

“If you are in the business of cultivating Cannabis for supply or the production of other illegal drugs within Rodney then expect the Police to be through your door soon."
