Body found submbergd water Queen Charlotte Sounds

At about midday today Police were notified that a body had been located partially submerged between Torea Bay and Double Cove in the Queen Charlotte Sounds.

The National Police Dive Squad along with a local Picton Constable retrieved a male body just after 1:00pm, where he was transported to the Wairua Hospital Mortuary.

As yet this male has not been formally identified and won't be until a Post Mortem is conducted on Monday the 9th November 2009 in Nelson.

The cause of death of the male is yet to be established and more will hopefully be known after the Post Mortem results.

Mr PURDY'S family members have been informed and the search for him has ceased awaiting results of the post mortem.
