The Badminton New Zealand Annual Award Winners have been announced.

Administrator of the Year – Sue Taylor (Waitakere)
Coach of the Year – Barry Stevens (Auckland)
Volunteer of the Year – Richard Skarott (Manawatu)
Technical Official of the Year – Mike Wright (Waitakere)
Team of the Year – Bay of Plenty Masters 2.
Junior Outstanding Performance of the Year – Luke Charlesworth (Waitakere)
Senior Outstanding Performance of the Year – Donna Haliday (Auckland)
Outstanding Contribution to Badminton in New Zealand – Richard Skarott (Manawatu)

Richard Skarott won two awards, the first time in the history of the awards that one person has won two in the same year
Richard is a long time volunteer of Badminton Manawatu having been President for the past 10 years and is now the Secretary. He has been the Event Director for the North Island under 17 & under 15 Championships, the largest annual junior event held in New Zealand with up to 400 children playing, for the past 25 years. Richard is one of four people in New Zealand to hold the qualification of Oceania Line Judge which has see him line judge at all major international events in New Zealand in the past 5 years.
