Man falls to his death

About 2:30 am on 24 November 2009 police were called to Piapia Bay, Northland, (near Kaeo), after a local man in his late fifties fell about 25 metres down a cliff to a shingle beach below. He died as a result of the fall.

The deceased and a friend were walking along a track to make their way to a fishing spot when the deceased lost his footing.

The deceased's body has been recovered.
