Swim meet kicks off in typical Southland Style
Swimmers from all over the country converged on Invercargill's Splash Palace last night for the third short course Division 2 Swimming champs.
The event began with Invercargill Mayor, Tim Shadbolt, and Swim Southland President, Esther Price, opening the procedings and was followed by a march past along with the national anthem
The competition is part of the Swimming New Zealand National calendar to help develop young swimmers and has seen some of the nations past and present stars emerge through its ranks, most notably Dean Kent.
The Meet continues until Saturday and results can be obtaied from the swimming nz website
