Christchurch South Police continue to be concerned about the whereabouts of a missing 45 year old Tasmanian (Australia) resident Michael CRAIG who was last seen at 1.15 a.m. on Friday 4 December 2009.

Detective Senior Sergeant David HARVEY says "Michael was travelling with a friend also from Tasmania around the South Island between 27 November and 9 December. The friend is concerned that he has not seen Michael since Friday morning when he is known to have left the Lyttleton Hotel bar."

HARVEY says "the whereabouts of Michael is unexplained at the moment."

Police have identified that Michael was at the Embankment Bar on Ferry Road between 1.30 and 4.30 a.m. It is not known where he has gone from there.

HARVEY says "Michael is described as a male, Caucasian, solid build, approx 175 cm, clean shaven, with short 'salt and pepper' coloured ' hair, with olive skin. He was last seen wearing a white or grey coloured sweat shirt, dark grey to black track pants with a lighter coloured strip down the leg and a woollen overcoat. Michael is believed to be wearing black leather boots and in possession of a pair of sunglasses".

HARVEY says "I would ask anyone who may know Michael or his whereabouts or who may have seen anyone fitting his description to contact the Christchurch Central Police Station with the information".

HARVEY also says "a sea and land search was completed around the Lyttleton wharf area today and this did not locate Michael."
