Motorcycle crash in Canterbury

At around 3.50 pm today [Saturday] two motorcyclists collided on the Waiau Bridge at Waiau. One of the motorcyclists is seriously injured and has been flown to hospital.

The Waiau bridge has been closed and will remain closed for some time. It is not expected the bridge will open for the next three hours. Members of the public can expect considerable delays.

Emergency services are at the scene and investigators are looking in the cause of the crash. The bridge will be re-opened as soon as possible.
