Mt Kaukau Tracks Upgrades

 

The spectacular views from Mt Kaukau - Wellington City’s highest vantage point - will soon be a little easier to enjoy.

Two of the tracks to the summit - the Northern Walkway route from Johnsonville Park and the Summit Track from Woodmancote Road in Khandallah - will be upgraded over the next few months. We'll be replacing badly eroded steps, upgrading sections of track and improving drainage - work that will help keep these routes in good shape for years to come and make the tracks accessible to more people.

The tracks will be closed at times for safety reasons but it will still be possible to get to the summit from Johnsonville and Khandallah using alternative routes. Watch for signs indicating track closures and alternative tracks to use.
