Man arrested for robbery of 85-year-old woman

At 6am on Wednesday 23 December 2009 Christchurch South Detectives along with AOS staff arrested a 35yr old man in regards to the Aggravated Robbery of a defenceless 85yr old female in the car park at Barrington Mall which occurred on 3 December last.

This man will appear in the Christchurch District Court today on a charge of Aggravated Robbery.


The complainant has been in hospital since this vicious attack as a result of the injuries she sustained.

She is relieved this man has now been finally apprehended

Police would like to thank those people who first went to the aid of the elderly woman and those many good people who have sent her get well cards.

We can now all feel a little bit safer as a result of this arrest.
