Motorcyclist dead after crashing on bend

At 12.58 pm Wednesday 30 December 2009 police were advised of a serious crash on State Highway 6 near Punakaiki, where the rider of a motorcycle travelling north, failed to take a bend. The road was wet at the time. Emergency services rushed to the scene and a helicopter was sent.

It has been confirmed that the male rider has died as a result of his injuries.

The Serious Crash Unit and Greymouth Police are investigating the cause of the crash
