Drunk truck driver on Northern Motorway, Auckland

AUCKLAND

At 2219 on 2nd January 2010, following a traffic complaint from a member of the Public about a truck that was observed weaving over the road, a 5 ton truck was stopped on the Northern Motorway and alcohol procedures were initiated.

The driver blew 1631 mg of alcohol per litre of breath.

This is more than 4 times over the legal limit.

The driver had been on a delivery run to Warkworth having originally started at East Tamaki.

The driver was disqualified.

The truck has been impounded and the driver has been charged and will appear in Court to answer the charges
