Fatal crash near Shotover bridge

A 32 year old Queenstown man , a Brazilian national, has died as a result of injuries sustained in a 2 vehicle head on crash on State Highway 6, Queenstown , about 100 metres on the Queenstown side of the Shotover bridge.

The deceased drivers name will not be released until overseas next of kin are advised.

The crash occurred at about 4.55pm on Friday 8th December 2010 and involved the 2 vehicles and the 2 drivers.

The other driver involved, a 31 year old Queenstown man, Brad James NIELSON , suffered serious leg injuries and has been transported to Kew Hospital, Invercargill.

A detour was in place at the scene for 2 hours while investigations were carried out.

Members of the public assisted at the scene prior to emergency services arriving then left. Police would like to locate and speak to these persons and are appealing for any other witnesses who may have seen the crash, or the vehicles involved movements immediately prior to the crash, to make contact with the Queenstown Police, Constable Logan Dickie
