At 0915 hours this morning Police received information that a boat had overturned on the Taieri River mouth South Otago.
Two persons were beleived to be in the water.
A rescue operation was put into effect.
An outgoing tide with rough surf conditions prevented any other boats becomming involved
A rescue helicopter with members of the Dunedin water rescue team located three persons who had been swept out to sea and another fourth person who had made it back to land.
One of these persons has been flown to Dunedin Hospital and another is being taken by road ambulance. The other two received a medical check up at the Mouth.
