Victim of family violence in Kaokohe named

Police have released the name of the woman who died as a result of a family violence incident in Kaikohe on Wednesday night.

She was Lola Paraha, aged 47 years, from Kaikohe.

A post mortem of her body will be carried out today.

A 38-year-old man, charged with assaulting Paraha, has been held in custody to re-appear in the Kaikohe District Court on Thursday January 21.

Police are continuing to work on the homicide investigation with a team of 20 canvassing the area, interviewing family and any witnesses and carrying out the scene examination, which is expected to be completed later today.
