Fatal rail incident

At approx 00:17am a male has been fatally injured as the result of being struck by a train on the main trunk line, Raumati, Kapiti Coast.

The person appeared to go onto the tracks as the north bound commuter train approached him.

The male is believed to be approximately 20years old and was wearing light coloured clothing at the time.
Emergency services are at the scene.

Details of the male will not be released until the next of kin have been advised.
