MANUKAU CITY

At approximately 2.30am this morning two females were sat in their vehicle in the car park of McDonalds, Bader Drive, Mangere. They were threatened at gunpoint by an individual offender and made to hand over the keys to their car.

"They saw a suspicious looking male loitering around an ATM machine. The male was walking funny and looked as if he was holding something in his hands. The offender approached the open driver's window and pointed a pistol at the females, he told them to get out of the vehicle", said Counties Manukau Police Detective Craig Turley.

"The females did as they were told and the offender got into the vehicle and attempted to start it, which set the alarm off. He was assisted by the females to turn the alarm off. He was last seen driving out onto Mascot Avenue towards Massey Road with the lights off", he said.

The male is described as a Pacific Islander, 17-20 years old, 183cm, skinny build, wearing a dark coloured beanie, blue baggy jersey and dark pants. He spoke in a shaky and quiet voice.

The pistol is described as a black handgun, approximately 15cm long, possibly plastic.

The stolen vehicle is a blue Honda CRV, registration BCA372. The two front tyres are missing the rims.

If anyone has sighted the vehicle or has any information that may assist this investigation they are asked to contact Counties Manukau Police Crime Squad on (09) 295 0200.
