Car jacked at knife point

MANUKAU CITY

At about 3.00 pm on Thursday 28 January 2010 police received a report from a motorist that a person had robbed them of their car at knifepoint in Mangatawhiri.

The vehicle was located by police about 20 minutes later travelling North on the Southern Motorway at Ramarama. The vehicle subsequently failed to stop for police and a pursuit ensued involving the police helicopter 'Eagle'.

The vehicle eventually stopped in McRobbie's Road, Kingseat and one person was taken into custody. No one was injured during the incident. A knife has been recovered from the vehicle.

A person will be appearing in the Manukau District Court on 29 January 2010 charged with Aggravated Robbery, Kidnapping, Possession of an Offensive Weapon, Failing to Stop for Police and Dangerous Driving.
