Tauranga Ambulance and Police staff were this morning called to a reported dog attack at a residential address in Hairini.

A 34 year old male at that address had contacted ambulance reporting that his dogs had attacked him inside his home. Police arrived to find the male suffering serious arm injuries from two dogs that were contained within the house.

The male was taken to Tauranga Hospital for treatment and may need to be transferred to Waikato Hospital for further treatment.

The two pit bull type dogs have been destroyed. Police have not yet been able to speak to the male to determine why the dogs attacked him.
