Train & Truck Collision

At approximately 3:18pm today there has been a level crossing collision between a passenger train and a truck.

The incident has occurred on Racecourse Rd by Totara St (State highway Four) at Mananui.

There are no reports of injuries to the passengers or the train and truck driver.

The train is a north bound passenger train consisting of about three carriages with about 90 people on board.

The truck is a small four wheel truck which is loaded with water.

The train has sustained frontal damage but able to continue north bound to transfer passengers to another vehicle.

The crossing has warning lights and bells but no barrier arm.

Emergency services are on scene.
