As each day passes the concerns for Vanessa Pickering's safety and whereabouts increase says DSS Virginia Le Bas.

"She's had no contact with her family or friends and her seven year old daughter waits for her to come home," she says.

The Police and Vanessa's family ask anyone who might have information re Vanessa's location to contact the Christchurch Police immediately.

"We are still interested in any sightings of the vehicle a blue/green Toyota Estima, EFA 478 in and around the Canterbury area over the past week," says DSS Le Bas. "Especially any sightings in the north Canterbury area from last Monday 8 February until yesterday midday when the vehicle was located by police."

Pickering has not been seen since leaving her home in New Brighton on Monday evening with her seven year old daughter . She was thought to have been in the company of Malcolm CHASTON, (aka Maniapoto WALKER).

Vanessa's daughter was located by a member of the public just north of the Old Waimakariri Bridge in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Police and Land SAR volunteers will continue their search today to locate Vanessa says Ms Le Bas. They will be starting at noon at Godley Head.

"A large area was searched yesterday with no clues to establish where Vanessa is," she says. "Many people have been spoken to by police to establish what exactly has happened to Vanessa but we still need more information."
