Murphy Reserve Homicide
A deceased female was discovered behind the toilet block in Murphys Reserve, Otahuhu.
It was today at 6.50am that two members of the public discovered the body.
"A homicide investigation has commenced. The scene is secure and a scene examination is being conducted. The local Maori Wardens are assisting police with the security of the scene," said Detective Inspector John Tims.
"Police will be going door to door starting from this afternoon and following through the weekend to talk to the neighbours that reside around the reserve, looking for information that may assist the investigation," said Mr Tims.
"A post-mortem will be conducted today which will determine the cause of death," he said.
The deceased is a female Maori in her mid 50s, of medium build, approximately 165cm in height. She was last seen wearing a long dark jacket and a multi-coloured jacket underneath. She was also wearing dark trousers and black shoes.
