Crash - SH7, Lewis Pass Road, Tekoa Range

Yesterday at approximately 11:35 a.m. emergency services responded to a serious crash on State Highway 7, approximately 5 kilometres West of the Hanmer Springs turnoff.

It appears speed was a factor in the head-on crash, which involved two cars. One of the cars came to rest in a small ditch, on its side.

Occupants were taken to Christchurch Hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter as well as the West Coast Solid Energy Rescue Helicopter.

The occupants were described as being in critical condition.

The Police Serious Crash Unit and Photography Section also attended.
