Fatal Crash at Queenstown

QUEENSTOWN

At approximately 9.30pm last night, a 48 year old Taiwanese woman, was struck by a Bus on Fernhill Road, Queenstown, between the One Mile Delta roundabout and Sainsbury Road.

The woman was taken to Lakes District Hospital by Ambulance, where she died a short time later.

The woman had been visiting Queenstown along with her husband and two adult children, having travelled from Christchurch earlier in the day.

Police are interviewing a number of witnesses and are appealing for anyone who has information about the crash to contact Queenstown Police, on 03 4411600.

A Police Serious Crash Specialist is to examine the scene and vehicle involved in the crash later today.

The bus involved in the crash is a part of the local Connectabus fleet and was travelling along its usual route.

The investigation is at an early stage and Police are not in a position to comment as to the cause of the crash or whether any charges are being considered.

The deceased woman's name will be released once extended family in Taiwan has been notified.
