Sheets of glass cause motorway mayhem

There will be a partial closure of the Southern Motorway between Alfriston and Papakura for the next 60 minutes (0820 - 0920) while police and other emergencies services clean away broken glass that has resulted from a spilled load of sheet glass.

The partial closure will only affect southbound lanes one and two, thus leaving lane 3 free for traffic.

Due to peak traffic flow delays can be expected and motorists travelling south are advised to be patient or to seek alternate routes in the region of the spill.

A further release will to done once the spill is cleared.
