Arrest Made In Connection with Homicide Investigation - Updated
The Christchurch Police have arrested a 22 year old man in connection with the investigation into the death of a woman in Huntsbury.
At this stage, the man has been charged with the burglary of the woman's home and the unlawful taking of her car.
Depending on the outcome of ongoing investigations, the man arrested may face a charge in relation to the woman's death.
A post-mortem has been completed, the Police will not be commenting on the results of the examination. The Police hope to formally identify the woman later today. Once that has been completed, her name will be released to the media.
The man arrested will appear in the Christchurch District Court on Monday 22 February 2010 on the charges laid in relation to the homicide enquiry and other unrelated matters.
Acting Detective Inspector LONG advises that at this stage the Police are not seeking the whereabouts of any other person in relation to the woman's death.

The woman who was found deceased at her Huntsbury, Christchurch home on Friday 19 February, 2010 has been formally identified as Gaynor Alice White a 62 year old retired woman.
