Boy hit by truck - Gray Avenue, Papatoetoe

At about 5pm at Gray Avenue, Papatoetoe a 6 year old boy was knocked down by a light truck.

The boy suffered a head injury and is described as critical.

He has been taken to Middlemore Hospital for CAT scans. His parents are with him.

The driver at the light truck, remained at the scene and is talking to Police.

It appears at this stage that the boy ran into the road. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.

There some road closures around the crash site though they are not affecting the traffic.
