Name release Paeroa child death following weekend vehicle crash

An 11-year-old boy critically injured after his two-wheel trail bike collided with a utility outside a rural property near Paeroa on Sunday died in Auckland's Starship Hospital Monday evening.

An investigation into the cause of the crash that claimed the life of Blake Fowlie being conducted by the Waikato Serious Crash Unit is in its initial stages and further comment on the circumstances of what occurred would be inappropriate at this time.

Blake's death has been referred to the Coroner and the boy's family has asked media to respect their privacy at this time.
