MATAMATA

5.30am - A truck and tailor carrying fertiliser has rolled on State Highway 2 near No 2 Road, in the Matamata - Piako District.

No other vehicles were involved, and whilst the driver has received only minor injuries, a quantity of fertiliser has spilt over the State Highway.

As a result, it is down to one lane and will remain so for several hours whilst the spill is cleaned up.

UPDATE

6.30am - Further to the accident involving the truck that had rolled on State Highway 27 near No 2 Rd, in the Matamata - Piako District, the road has now been fully closed whilst the spilt fertiliser is cleaned up.

Diversions have been put in place, but as some of the fertiliser has been spread on the road by passing traffic, and the road is wet, police are urging motorists to take care when driving in that area.

The road may be closed for another 2 to 3 hours
