Are you Dodgy enough? Speight?s Summit holds nationwide search for Dodgeball
Team.

Kicking off on March 20, 2010 the Speight?s Summit National Dodgeball Series will be
coming to a city centre near you! Hundreds of ordinary and extraordinary Kiwis will be vying
for a spot in a New Zealand All Star team, going on to compete in the 7th annual Dodgeball
World Championships in Las Vegas.

While Dodgeball is not a mainstream sport in New Zealand, the game?s popularity at the NZI
Sevens has proved there is an appetite for the code amongst Kiwis. The Summit Dodgeball
court, built specifically for the Sevens in 2008, has been a huge hit with fans every year
since.

This year?s Speight?s Summit National Dodgeball Series will tour from Auckland to Dunedin
stopping in six locations.

• Auckland Tournament will be held on the 20th March at Swashbucklers, 23 Westhaven Drive
• Hamilton Tournament will be held on the 21st March at The Cook, 7 Cook St
• Palmerston North will be held on the 27th March at The Speight?s Ale House, 17 Grey St
• Wellington will be held on the 28th March at Chicago, 1 Queens Wharf
• Christchurch will be held on the 10th April at the Bush Inn Tavern, 364 Riccarton Rd, Upper Riccarton
• Dunedin will be held on the 17th April at Gardies, 697 Castle Street

The competition aims to identify seven outstanding Dodgeballers from across New Zealand,
who will come together as the NZ team who will compete on the world stage in August 2010
against a range of international teams at the Dodgeball World Championships.

The national series sees one All Star (the most valuable player) selected from each regional
tournament. Judging criteria is based on a combination of skill, sportsmanship,
showmanship and “smarts” (strategy). The first All Star, Scott Wilkins from Wellington, was
selected from the Summit Dodgeball tournament at this year?s NZI Sevens. The six regional
tournaments in March and April will reveal the remaining athletes.

Speight?s Summit National Dodgeball Series is about getting out on court and having fun.
Regional tournaments will be festival type occasions with up to 250 players participating.
Teams are made up of four individuals and registration is free – so everyone should come
along and have a go!
