One dead after SH2 crash near Te Puke

A crash has occurred between a truck and a second vehicle on State Highway 2 approximately 2 kms north of Te Puke this morning.

One person has died at the scene.

As a result of the crash, the road is closed and traffic is being diverted down Te Puke Quarry Rd and Welcome Bay Rd.

This diversion is not suitable for heavy vehicles and any heavy vehicles are asked to use State Highway 33 and 36 via Rotorua.

Motorists are asked to use alternative routes and delays in the area are expected.

Details of the deceased, the cause of the crash and descriptions of the vehicles involved are not yet known.
