Wellington Westpac Rescue Helicopter fly's Sick Tramper from the Orongorongo's

The Wellington Based Westpac Rescue Helicopter was call early this morning the 21st Mar 10 at 12:30am to a 28yr old female from Wellington believed to be having an allergic reaction to something she had eaten.

The lady was in a Hut in the Orongorongo's which is to the east of Wellington.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter with a Wellington Free Ambulance Paramedic responded to the Orongorongo's.

With the aid of Night Vision Goggles the helicopter crew were able to locate one of the tramping party who had made their way down to the stream with a torch. The Hut the patient was located was only a couple of hundred meters from where the helicopter landed on the river bank.

The paramedic was able to walk up to the hut and assess the patient. With the aid of the paramedic and the member of the the tramping party the patient was able to walk to the waiting helicopter.

The patient was then flown to Wellington Hospital Emergency Department where she is being assessed and treated.
