ASB Grey Lyn robbed

AUCKLAND

At about 2.12pm today (23/03/2010) two men entered the ASB bank, Grey Lynn Branch 592 Gt North Rd Grey Lynn, one of them was armed with a pistol. The armed offender ordered a number of customers to lie on the floor.

The second offender climbed over the security screen where he confronted bank staff forcing them to lie on the floor. He then forced open a number of cash drawers removing the cash from them. The two men then left the bank and were last seen running down Tuarangi Rd towards Western Springs. The exact amount of cash stolen is not known at this stage but believed to be a substantial amount.

No one was hurt during the armed robbery.

One of the offenders is described as a male, possibly European, 6ft tall medium build, wearing a blue/white hooded jacket and dark glasses.

The other offender is a male, dark skinned, Mäori/ Polynesian, 178cm, of stocky build, wearing a light blue hooded track top.
