Support for the Tawa schools and Community Music Festival has come from the Tawa Community Board, which has granted the biennial event $4,000.

The festival involves most of the children in years five and six at Tawa's six primary schools, Tawa Intermediate's Madrigal Choir, plus Tawa College singers and about 100 adult singers.

The Tawa Community Board, through Wellington City Council, has also granted $2,500 to help New Zealand Red Cross deliver 'People Saver' courses in Tawa. These courses, designed for young people aged 10 - 12 years, teach basic first aid skills for emergencies.

Grants have also gone to help the Tawa Community Patrol attend its national training seminar ($1,500) and towards the Tawa Progressive and Ratepayers Association's Christmas celebrations ($1,044).

Other grants will provide cricket uniforms for Tawa College's first cricket eleven ($1,000), new chairs for the Tawa Squash Club ($700) and swimming caps for all Tawa Swimming Club members ($700). Tawa Bowling Club will get $600 to help produce a commemorative booklet for its fiftieth anniversary.

Details of all the grants approved for the Tawa community can be found in the Grants section of this website.
