Waitakere CIB is investigating the robbery of a taxi driver.

At about midday on Saturday the 27th of March 2010 a taxi driver for Cheap Cabs uplifted a passenger from the McRae Way taxi rank in New Lynn.

A second associate was uplifted from nearby.

The taxi driver was then directed to the Church car park in Parker Road, Oratia.

One of the males has then produced a knife and threatened the life of the taxi driver. The taxi driver has managed to escape and both males drove off in the taxi.

The taxi was observed a short time later abandoned in Milan Drive, Glen Eden.

The males were described as being Maoris, aged 25 to 30 years. One was working blue and orange workman type overalls and the second male was wearing an orange reflective jacket.
