Brazilian drowns in Lake Hood

A 22 year old Brazilian national residing in Ashburton drowned whilst swimming at Lake Hood, Ashburton in calm but cool conditions this evening. Police are still determining the exact circumstances however it is believed he was a strong swimmer and alcohol was not a factor. Family residing overseas are yet to be notified. Ashburton Police wish to express their grateful thanks to those members of the Lake Hood community who assisted them in the search.
