WELLINGTON

Police investigating the death of an 82 year old woman in Johnsonville believe there are no suspicious circumstances relating to her death.

Detective Inspector Paul Basham of the Wellington CIB confirmed that the woman had been found at the bottom of a set of concrete stairs in a semi-covered carport at the rear of the address. He believes she may have been there for up to four or five days prior to being found by a relative.

Detective Inspector Basham said Police initially had some concerns with respect to the woman's death. After the completion of a forensic post-mortem, field-testing by the ESR and a thorough examination of the Johnsonville address by detectives and Scene of Crime Officers, he now believes that the death is not suspicious.

The matter will now be referred to the Coroner who will confirm cause of death in due course.

The name of the woman has also been released. She was Nicoline LINSCHOTEN, an 82 year old widow from Johnsonville.
