LEVIN

At about 12.30 a.m. on the 15th April 2010 a two car collision occurred at the intersection of Winchester Street and Wilton Street, Levin.

A Ford Falcon vehicle travelling West along Wilton Street has driven straight through the intersection colliding with a 4x4 that was heading North along Winchester.

The occupants of the Ford vehicle have decamped from the scene but were located a short time later on Oxford Street after members of the public assisted police and drove around looking for them as police dealt with the accident scene.

The driver of the 4x4 was shaken but suffered only minor injuries.

The driver of the Ford will face several charges including Dangerous driving and Failing to Stop to Ascertain injury. Speed and alcohol were a factor.

Police would like to thank the residents around the intersection of Winchester and Wilton Streets who assisted in providing valuable information which lead to the apprehension of the fleeing driver.

Media enquiries should be referred to Sgt Jeff LYVER, Levin Police
