Aro Valley assault investigated

Wellington Police are investigating an assault that occurred in Aro Valley on Friday the 16th of March 2010.

Detective Sam Mercer says that a male was located in Aro Park, just before 5pm, with an injury to his head.

The man was bleeding from his face and head, but was conscious, and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Aro Street was busy with pedestrian and vehicle traffic on that Friday afternoon, and Police believe that a member of the public will have seen the man, or know what happened to him.

The injured man is a thin, Caucasian male, in his early 40's. He was wearing a dark top, shorts and work boots. He had an injury to his head and blood on his face and clothes.

Police are urging anyone who saw this man, or has information about the assault to contact the Wellington Crime Squad on 802-3606 or Crime Stoppers line on 0800 555 111.

The man has since been discharged from hospital.
