Aggravated Robbery - Hungerford Road, Wellington
Bus Stop at the intersection of Hungerford Road and Queens Drive, Wellington
Wellington Police are investigating the robbery of a 'Go Wellington' bus driver that occurred at approximately 10.20 pm on Tuesday 20 April 2010 at a bus stop situated near the intersection of Hungerford Road and Queens Drive, Wellington.
At approximately 10.20pm the driver was parked near the bus turn-around-point situated near the intersection of Hungerford Road and Queens Drive, Wellington.
The offender boarded the bus and demanded money from the driver. As the driver handed over a metal cash tin the offender struck the driver with a metal object.
The offender was last seen running towards Hungerford Road. The offender made off with a small amount of cash contained in the tin.
The offender is described as a male, slim build, 178 cm (5 foot 10 inches) and was Maori or possibly Polynesian.
The offender was wearing a black beanie and a bandana over his face. He was wearing grey coloured trousers and a long sleeve top.
Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this robbery or seen any suspicious persons or vehicles in the area at the time. It is likely that the offender has discarded the metal cash tin shortly after committing the offence.
Residents living near the bus turn-around-point are requested to search their properties for the cash tin, the weapon and any discarded clothing.
The driver sustained a broken arm and a cut on his head. He was treated at Wellington Hospital.
Police would like to hear from anyone who has any information that may assist in identifying the person responsible for this robbery.
