70 000 kids under 15 in Auckland with asthma

At least 70 000 children in the greater Auckland region alone live with asthma, according to Asthma Foundation calculations.
Asthma Awareness Week starts on Monday (3 to 9 May 2010) and the Foundation is drawing attention to New Zealand’s abysmal respiratory health statistics.
About 1 in 4 New Zealand children has asthma and 1 in 6 adults. The illness is also the leading reason for New Zealand children being hospitalised.
