DARGAVILLE

At approximately 9 p.m on Saturday the 1st May 2010, in Dargaville, an 18 year old male was assaulted and his vehicle was stolen.

The victim had left work and was sitting in his vehicle when a male jumped over a fence and assaulted him by punching him in the face, the offender pulled the victim from his car and again punched him in the face before throwing him onto the ground and taking the victims car keys, he then drove off in the victims car.

The victim's vehicle is a white Toyota Starlet 2 door hatchback, the rims are black. This vehicle has a distinctive loud clink sound when shutting the passenger door.

The offender is described as being a male Maori approximately 16 - 17 years old.
Medium build, about 5ft 10 inches tall with dark hair.

He was wearing dark shorts and a red hoodie with the sleeves cut off.

This male attended the Dargaville High School last year and will be known in Dargaville. If you have any information leading to the identity of this person call Snr Sgt Sue Leach, Officer in Charge Dargaville Police Station.
