The final round of water meter reads for this financial year will take place in May and
June.

This affects all properties in Bannockburn and Patearoa and all commercial and
properties larger than 1100m2 in Cromwell, Alexandra, Clyde, Omakau and Ranfurly.

Some users may now have exceeded the annual water allocation for this financial
year. Consumers will only be billed for any excess water use.

Property owners are reminded that it is their responsibility to pay the water bill. It is
up to the individual property owner as to how they recover these charges from their
tenants.

Council staff are noting an increasing awareness of water use since meter installation
began. Utility Services Manager, Peter Greenwood said “We are noticing an
increase in the number of people fixing leaks and greater awareness of the demands
irrigation places on the water supply”.

Mr Greenwood said “Council continues to encourage all residents to check their
meters regularly so as to be aware of their water use and try to keep within their
annual water allocation. Doing a regular check is an effective way of detecting any
water wastage caused by leaks.
