Couple facing drugs charges

A man and a woman from Whanganui will appear in court today after drugs and cash were found when the vehicle they were in was stopped for speeding.

A Highway Patrol car stopped the car on SH4 at Horopito around 3.10pm on Sunday, 9 May after it was clocked doing 120k/ph.

Police recovered from the vehicle a small quantity of methamphetamine, two methamphetamine pipes, some sets of scales and over $30,000 in cash.

A search warrant was later carried out at an address in Whanganui and further evidence of drug dealing was found including a quantity of cannabis.

A 39-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman will appear at Whanganui District Court charged with possession for supply. The woman has also been charged with driving whilst disqualified.
