Man dead after mobility scooter crash

At approximately 5.00 pm yesterday, Police attended the scene of a collision between a car and a mobility scooter in Ohoka Road near the intersection with Williams Street, in Kaiapoi. The crash occurred on the road.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and an elderly male was transported to Christchurch hospital where he died as a result of the injuries received.

The road was closed for a period of time while police from Kaiapoi, assisted by the Serious Crash Unit commenced investigations into the cause of the crash.
