The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists that State Highway 2 in Tauranga City near Judea will be closed overnight on Sunday 16 and Monday 17 May from 7pm to 6am.

The closure is to allow a new overhead gantry sign to be installed at the Takitimu Drive off-ramp. The sign is designed to give motorists more notice of the exit.

Rod James, the NZ Transport Agency’s State Highway Manager for Bay of Plenty says motorists will be diverted along Waihi Road during the road closure of Tamatea Arikinui Drive (formerly Route J). The tolled section of Takitimu Drive (Route K) is not affected by this closure.

“The gantry goes across five lanes of traffic so the quickest and safest way to get it installed is to completely close the highway for a short period.

“NZTA apologises to motorists for any inconvenience and to local residents who might notice higher than usual traffic volumes,” Mr James says.
