Tauranga City is in the heart of the Bay of Plenty region. Tauranga City extends from the Wairoa River in the west to the Kaimai-Mamaku ranges in the south and the Pacific Ocean on the north and east. People come to live here for 'the lifestyle' and they enjoy improving an ever-increasing number of 'bigger' city facilities and attractions. The district has a total land area of 12,742 hectares. As at 1 March 2004 Tauranga has a resident population of 100,000 (est.) which is 2.4 percent of the total New Zealand population.
