Fatal Hit and Run

This morning, Wednesday 26 May 2010, between 7-7.15 am, a cyclist was hit by a motor vehicle at the intersection of Marshs and Springs Road.

As a result of the collision, the cyclist suffered fatal injuries. The cyclist is a 42 year old Mother, of two primary school children from Prebbleton. Next of Kin have been advised, however the formal identity of the deceased is still to be carried out and will be released once further enquiries have been made.

Detective Sergeant Anderson of the Christchurch South Police says that “Preliminary investigations indicate that she has been struck by a vehicle and the driver would be well aware they had hit something.”

The Police are still investigating this matter as the driver of the vehicle involved has not been identified to date and appeal to the public for witnesses to the collision and the driver of the vehicle involved to come forward.
