Aggravated robbery - Westpac
At about 9.20am this morning, the Westpac bank situated on Te Irirangi drive at Botany Junction was robbed by two men armed with what appears to be pump-action shotguns.
"The two offenders are described as medium built, Maori or Polynesian males. They were wearing hooded sweatshirts and had their faces covered with scarves," said Detective Senior Sergeant Pete Jones.
"The offenders left the area in a maroon-coloured, Honda CRV Station Wagon, registration number DQJ 5, that was driven by a third offender. The vehicle was dumped a short distance from the bank."
"The offenders have got away with an undisclosed sum of money, including foreign exchange currency," said Mr Jones.
Counties Manukau Police encourage members of the public who may have been in the area at the time of the incident to come forward with information.
Police also request that members of the public be aware of suspicious people attempting to change large amounts of foreign exchange currency.
The public can call Counties Manukau Police on 09 2611 300 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
