Kamo/Bedlington Road, Whau Valley, Whangarei.

Emergency services have dealt with a serious crash at Kamo Road just south of Bedlington Road, Whau Valley, Whangarei.

The crash happened at about 5.30pm when a south bound car struck a 10 year old boy who was crossing the road.

The driver stopped immediately and is helping the Police. It does not appear that alcohol was a factor in this incident.

The victim is at Whangarei Hospital and is in a serious condition.

SH1 southbound was closed for a short time but has been re opened,

The Police Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
