Fatal car crash in Taneatua early Sunday morning

About 2 am on Sunday the 30th of May, 2010, emergency services attended a motor vehicle crash near Taneatua in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.

A 42 year old male was taken to Whakatane hospital but subsequently died from injuries received.

He has been named as Kari HAUWAHO, aged 42 years, late of Ruatoki. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Enquires indicate the driver had a pre existing medial condition and was disqualified from holding a drivers licence.

The Whakatane Police serious crash unit is currently investigating the cause of the crash.

The matter has been referred to the coroner.
